For the past fortnight, MLB Network has been unveiling its roster of the finest players in Major League Baseball. While several other Braves players made

appearances on the list, Ronald Acuña Jr.’s position was eagerly anticipated. The only question remained: how high would he ascend?

That question was emphatically answered last night as the network revealed its Top 10, with Acuña claiming the coveted top spot.

At just 25 years old, he surpassed NL MVP runner-up Mookie Betts, 2022 AL MVP Aaron Judge, 2023 AL MVP Shohei Ohtani, and even Freddie Freeman to clinch the premier position.

Following a challenging 2022 season marked by his return from an ACL injury, MLB Network positioned Acuña at the 25th spot in their rankings for the 2023 season. However, Acuña Jr. defied expectations with a historic performance, smashing 41 home runs and swiping 73 bases, becoming the first

player in MLB history to achieve 30/60, 40/50, 40/60, and 40/70 seasons. As the Braves’ leadoff hitter, he also amassed 217 hits, ranking sixth in franchise history, while boasting an impressive slash line of .337/.416/.596 for the season.

The 25-year-old’s remarkable display on the field earned him unanimous MVP honors, a Silver Slugger Award, and now the coveted top spot in MLB Network’s Top 100 list for 2024.

MLB Network conducted an interview with Acuña shortly after crowning him as the best player of 2024. Franco García, the Braves translator, was present for the call, but Acuña surprised by conducting the entire interview in English, rendering translation unnecessary.

For the past fortnight, MLB Network has been unveiling its selection of the top players in Major League Baseball. While several other Braves players were

featured on the list, it was evident that Ronald Acuña Jr. would emerge as the highest-ranked among them. The question remained: just how high would he climb?

Last night, that question was definitively answered as the network unveiled its Top 10, with Acuña securing the coveted top spot.

At just 25 years old, he outshone NL MVP runner-up Mookie Betts, 2022 AL MVP Aaron Judge, 2023 AL MVP Shohei Ohtani, and even Freddie Freeman to claim the pinnacle position.

Ronald Acuña Jr. Tops the List as Baseball’s Best Player

Following a challenging 2022 season marked by his return from an ACL injury, MLB Network initially placed Acuña at the 25th spot in their 2023

rankings. However, Acuña Jr. proceeded to deliver a historic performance, smashing 41 home runs and stealing 73 bases, making him the first player in

MLB history to achieve 30/60, 40/50, 40/60, and 40/70 seasons. As the Braves’ leadoff hitter, he also amassed 217 hits, ranking sixth in franchise history, while boasting an impressive slash line of .337/.416/.596 for the season.

The 25-year-old’s exceptional play earned him unanimous MVP honors, a Silver Slugger Award, and now the prestigious top spot in MLB Network’s Top 100 list for 2024.

Following the announcement, MLB Network conducted an interview with Acuña. Although Braves translator Franco García joined the call, Acuña conducted the entire interview in English.

During the interview, when asked about his goals after the historic 40/70 season, Acuña simply replied, “Stay healthy.” When questioned if a 50/50 season was possible in 2024, the right fielder responded with a chuckle, “You never know.”

Joining Acuña on the Top 100 Now list are eight other Braves players, with their respective rankings as follows:

13. Matt Olson

15. Austin Riley

17. Spencer Strider

47. Sean Murphy

48. Max Fried

50. Michael Harris II

66. Ozzie Albies

83. Marcell Ozuna

The presence of eight Braves players on this list is remarkable, as it signifies that nearly 33% of the Braves’ 26-man roster is considered among the best in baseball.

And that’s not even mentioning some of the elite bullpen weapons they have. Now, it’s time to see if Ronald Acuña Jr. can defend his title as the best player in baseball during the upcoming season.
