Atlanta falcons coach Raheem Morris is seriously Pushing to Sign an incredible Free Agency star player who is willing to join the squad

Why Raheem Morris Could Push to Sign Kirk Cousins in Free Agency

Whether he enters through the draft, trade market, or free agency, the Atlanta Falcons are looking to add a quarterback this summer. Kirk Cousins, a veteran of the Minnesota Vikings who recently suffered a torn Achilles injury, is one of the top free agents. Washington selected Cousins, 35, in the fourth round of the draft to start his career. Raheem Morris, the head coach of the Falcons now, was one of the new coaches that joined that squad in 2012, Cousins’ rookie season.

While Morris coached defensive backs in 2012 for Washington, he has familiarity with Cousins and how he operates, something that may come into play for the Falcons’ free agency.

Atlanta might prioritize selecting a quarterback via the draft, but with the

No. 8 pick, all of the top choices might be gone by the time the Falcons have to

make a decision. Therefore, the Falcons’ best course of action for the following

season might be to sign a veteran like Cousins. Cousins is on pace to post some

of his greatest career stats after throwing for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five

interceptions in eight games for the Vikings this season.

In addition to having met paths with Morris in the past, Cousins is connected

to the city. In 2014, he got married in Atlanta to Julie, his wife. For his family of

four, moving to the Falcons would be more convenient given Julie’s residence.

While signing Cousins would undoubtedly be risky, the Vikings signal

caller is more than a little improvement, and the Falcons could make the playoffs

even with a minor boost over Ridder and Heinicke.
