Browns star David Njoku sends 5-word message on cut rumors.

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku responded on social media to baseless speculation suggesting he could be released due to salary cap concerns.

Njoku became aware of the discussion from the Pro Football Focus NFL Podcast, where hosts Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson were analyzing ways to address

the Browns’ financial situation, particularly focusing on Deshaun Watson’s significant cap hit of nearly $64 million.

During the conversation about potential salary cap casualties, Palazzolo mentioned Njoku’s name, albeit with some positive remarks attached.

“David Njoku is another player who might face the possibility of being cut,” Palazzolo remarked. “But, man, he really started to showcase himself as a

legitimate playmaker last year. If the Browns aim to bring Deshaun back to his 2020 or 2019 performance levels, they need to surround him with improved

pass catchers. It can’t solely rely on Amari Cooper and David Njoku; the receiving corps has to become even more formidable.”

Njoku shared a clip of the conversation on his social media, captioning it with a playful jab at NFL Network analyst Adam Rank: “@adamrank Get ya lil bro pls.”

By tagging Rank, Njoku was playfully disapproving of the assessment, recalling

their history. Rank had predicted a challenging 2023 season for Cleveland, but the team defied expectations by

finishing 11-6 despite notable injuries. Njoku had previously called out Rank by name after securing a playoff spot in Week 17.

“In December, when everyone got injured, there was doubt surrounding us,” Njoku remarked. “People were

saying we wouldn’t achieve anything. There’s a guy, Adam Rank — he’s terrible. We controlled our own destiny. We

persevered and earned our success. The guys in this locker room should be proud of that, but also recognize that there’s still more we can accomplish.”

Monson, for his part, stood by the clip featuring Njoku. “I mean, this isn’t taken

out of context or misrepresenting a larger body of analysis at all,” he tweeted.
