|Ohio state football have added a new football front officer staff
The Ohio State Buckeyes have reportedly recruited Sam Petitto to join their football administrative staff.
Petitto, previously serving as the director of personnel operations for the Alabama
Crimson Tide, will assume a similar role with the Buckeyes for the upcoming season. This hiring marks the third
instance within as many years that Ohio State has filled this position with a new individual.
During this offseason, the Buckeyes have attracted several talents from the Alabama football program, including
notable players such as safety Caleb Downs, quarterback Julian Sayin, and offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin.
However, Petitto represents the first staff member that Ohio State has recruited directly from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) powerhouse.
Petitto is anticipated to assume the position of “director of player personnel” with the Buckeyes. This role aligns
closely with his past responsibilities throughout his career, making it a familiar role for him.
Under the leadership of retired head coach Nick Saban, Petitto served as the director of personnel operations for the Crimson Tide over the past eight seasons.
Prior to joining Alabama, Petitto spent two seasons as the director of player personnel for the Georgia Bulldogs. His
career also includes positions at North Carolina, Grambling State, and Southeastern Louisiana.
As previously mentioned, Petitto will be the third individual to fill this role at Ohio State in as many years. In 2022, the Buckeyes hired Zach Grant, who
currently serves as the general manager of recruiting for the Cincinnati Bearcats. Following Grant, Marc Votteler assumed
the position in 2023 and now serves as the associate athletic director of player personnel for Mississippi State Bulldogs football.
According to a report from Letterman Row, Petitto is expected to begin his tenure with the Buckeyes today.
