Rams hire a well-known former defensive coordinator

Sean Desai, the former defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles,

has found a new role with the Los Angeles Rams. Desai will be taking on the

position of senior defensive assistant, as reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. In his new role, Desai will be offering

assistance to Chris Shula, who is serving as the Rams’ first-time defensive coordinator.

Desai’s extensive experience as a defensive coordinator, having previously held the role with both the Eagles and

Chicago Bears, likely played a significant role in the Rams’ decision to bring him aboard. With Raheem Morris departing

to take on the head coaching role in Atlanta, there’s a lack of seasoned expertise on the Rams’ defensive staff, a gap Desai is poised to help fill.

Desai’s tenure with the Eagles last season was marked by turbulence, as he was unexpectedly relieved of his playcalling

duties midseason. This adjustment didn’t yield favorable results for the team, ultimately leading to Desai and Matt

Patricia’s departure at season’s end. Joining the Rams should offer Desai a more stable environment, at least in the immediate future.
