him as a risk that didn’t pay off. Despite his youth, he possesses a level of wisdom beyond his years and understands the scrutiny that comes with being an athlete

in the City of Brotherly Love. He’s familiar with the tendency of fans to quickly forget about players who are out of sight. After enduring two stints on

Philadelphia’s injured reserve list, though he may not have been directly

asked, it’s evident that he’s aware of the perception that he may be injury-prone.

If memory serves us right, we may have briefly discussed this with Nakobe Dean in passing. In fact, the conversation was

so brief that he might not even recall it. However, we heard him express similar sentiments on another occasion, so we

feel confident in representing his feelings accurately. The young linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles had anticipated being selected in the first

round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Slipping to the third round, 83rd overall, served as a wake-up call unlike any he’d experienced before.

You see, prior to that, his football abilities had never been questioned. He had never faced failure or been told he wasn’t good enough. After a standout

senior season at Horn Lake High School, where he won the High School Butkus Award and earned a five-star recruit

Award and was named a Unanimous All-American. Although his collegiate success hasn’t yet translated to his professional career, we firmly believe

that the Nakobe Dean we saw in college is still within the player donning the Eagles’ number 17 jersey.

Let’s assess the situation. In his first year, he served as a backup mainly assigned to

special teams duties. By his second year, he had assumed the role of defensive signal caller, but unfortunately, injuries

overcome those challenges, we’re confident he can navigate his football career as well. As long as his body holds

up, he has the potential to reward the Eagles for the trust they’ve placed in him—a trust that many seem to have misplaced.
