Braves ace Spencer Strider confirms he will add a new pitch to his repertoire.

Facing Spencer Strider in the batter’s box was already intimidating, but now the

Braves’ ace is enhancing his arsenal to dominate hitters even further. The

Atlanta Braves began their Spring Training baseball yesterday afternoon, showcasing familiar traits from the previous season: a potent offense and

Strider’s ability to rack up strikeouts. While standout performances from Michael Harris II and top prospect Nacho Alvarez caught attention, the main buzz

after the Braves’ first Spring Training game revolved around their star pitcher’s latest addition to his repertoire.

Following the game, Justin Toscano of the AJC confirmed in a discussion with Spencer Strider that the much-discussed new curveball will be incorporated into

his pitching arsenal for the 2024 season. This development surely doesn’t bode well for hitters.

It’s yet to be determined whether both of his breaking balls exhibit sufficient

disparity in velocity and movement to qualify as distinct pitches. However, the compelling video shared below, courtesy

of the Pitching Ninja account on X (formerly known as Twitter), illustrates the challenge hitters face when

anticipating a 99 mph fastball, only to be caught off guard by a wicked breaking ball.
