So sad :Ohio State football admits to four minor recruiting violations

Ohio State football admits to four minor recruiting violations amid a busy offseason.

Ohio State has reportedly self-disclosed minor recruiting infractions to the NCAA,

with the violations classified as Level III, representing the least severe category of NCAA violations. These infractions

occurred over a five-month period, involving Ohio State football reaching

out to an unnamed player before the player officially entered the transfer

portal. A football assistant from Ohio State initiated contact with the player, who had expressed interest in transferring through a post on X

(formerly Twitter). However, NCAA rules stipulate that coaches can only contact

transfer portal prospects after an official decision to transfer has been made. The

coach ceased communication with the player as soon as the violation was recognized, according to Ohio State’s report.

Ohio State also disclosed an incident involving a high school player, Chris Henry Jr., who received a photo edit after attending a recruitment event in July.

Henry, a highly regarded wide receiver in the class of 2026, was given the edited photo by Ohio State football’s offensive

coordinator and wide receivers coach, Brian Hartline. Adam Jones, a former NFL defensive back and Henry’s legal guardian, received the photo from

Hartline. While Jones and Hartline were acquainted, NCAA regulations prohibit the distribution of such materials to prospects and their families before the

prospect reaches their junior year of high school. At the time of the violation, Henry was about to begin his sophomore year.

The remaining infractions include a booster reaching out to a player before a

game and a staff member from Ohio State making a comment on a social media post by a transfer.
