A Sunderland player who went out on loan has returned back to the club

Transfer news: Sunderland loan deal comes to an end amid summer contract decision

Kelechi Chibueze has returned to the club after a one-month loan deal in non-league
Goalkeeper Kelechi Chibueze has returned to Sunderland following a one-month loan, the club has stated.
The goalkeeper returned to Sunderland after spending a month on loan at non-
league Consett AFC in January; the agreement was not renewed.
Chibueze, a London native, went through the development system at Chelsea, one
of the biggest teams in the Premier League, before joining Sunderland in the summer of 2020.
Chibueze, who is also of Nigerian heritage, has received four caps for England’s under-16 team and has primarily participated in the Premier League tournament for the under-18 and under-21 teams.
The 20-year-old’s Sunderland contract is scheduled to expire in June, but
Sunderland may choose to extend it for an additional year.
The Echo has gathered that throughout the second part of the season,
Sunderland is considering their options with relation to rookie goalkeeper Adam Richardson.
Coaches at the Academy of Light hold great regard for Richardson, and last May, they offered him a three-year contract that would have kept him on Wearside until the summer of 2026.
