Rams GM talks about how Rams will like AttackĀ

While the Rams continue to engage in discussions with offensive linemen Kevin Dotson and Coleman Shelton ahead of the upcoming NFL free agency period,

General Manager Les Snead informed reporters on Tuesday that he anticipates both players will explore their market value in free agency.

Dotson, who served as the team’s starting right guard last season, was due to become a free agent after his rookie

contract expired. Meanwhile, Shelton had the option to void the final season of a two-year contract he signed last

offseason. Snead revealed during a Zoom call with reporters that Shelton has opted to void the contract in order to test free agency.

Snead mentioned that the Rams have maintained consistent communication

with Shelton and his representatives, and have similarly engaged in discussions with Dotson and his camp.

“Shelton expressed a desire to void his contract, prompting us to start exploring

potential next steps for him,” Snead explained. “Kevin has reached this stage and earned the opportunity to assess his true market value.”

It’s anticipated that the upcoming offseason could see the emergence of the first wide receiver to command a contract exceeding $30 million.

Snead further expressed his understanding of players’ inclination to

assess their market value before engaging in more substantive negotiations with the Rams.

“Sometimes patience is necessary in this process, which I believe is beneficial and

constructive for both parties,” Snead remarked. “You can’t rush free agency; it requires careful consideration.”

Joe Noteboom, a versatile offensive lineman, is slated to have the fourth-highest cap hit for the Rams at $20 million. If released and designated a post-June 1 cut, this move could

potentially free up $15 million in cap space for the Rams, with a dead cap figure of $5 million.

Snead commended Noteboom’s contributions as a valuable asset along the Rams’ offensive line, highlighting his ability to play multiple positions. He

indicated that the Rams are open to restructuring Noteboom’s contract, a process they explored last offseason as well.

“We’ve been in discussions with Joe and his representatives to find a mutually

beneficial solution for his return, given his significant role for us,” Snead disclosed. “It’s an ongoing process.”
