Sad news:Why Collingwood magpie rejected an incredible player and was forced out

Collingwood reject theory Jack Ginnivan was forced out

Graham Wright, the football manager at Collingwood, is sure that Jack Ginnivan was not ejected by the AFL premiers.

Just two days after fellow small forward Lachie Schultz joined the Magpies from

Fremantle, Ginnivan was moved to Hawthorn on Wednesday.

Last week’s unexpected revelation of Schultz’s interest in relocating to

Collingwood prompted quick conjecture about Ginnivan’s future.

However, Wright stated that when he learned on Tuesday that the Hawks had

met with the 20-year-old explosive player, he was “a little bit surprised”

from Hawthorn list manager Mark McKenzie.

According to Wright, throughout the trade window, the Magpies had “not one”

discussion over Ginnivan with any other club.

“He was a contracted player, he’s a premiership player, he’s 20 years old,

and we were pretty clear we saw it that way,” Wright stated.

“Jack made the choice to search elsewhere. Ultimately, we recognize that, accept that, and go on.”

Ginnivan’s final year at Collingwood was tumultuous, starting with a summertime drug prohibition.

When he showed up at the Moonee Valley races the evening before the grand

final, he courted more controversy. Pies coach Craig McRae then said that Ginnivan should have “read the room”.

Wright minimized recommendations Ginnivan’s departure was influenced by

his race attendance as well as the public’s response to McRae.

“I believe that has been exaggerated a little bit. Gamers are free to choose what they want to do,” stated Wright.

“Obviously, the day before the grand final is a little bit odd. However, that wasn’t the final the globe as well.”

On social media, Ginnivan praised the conclusion of his trading maneuver.

“What an f—ing ride, thank you everyone that made it elite,” he wrote on

social media alongside an image of the premiership cup.

Throughout his 42-game career, Ginnivan has been a contentious character for supporters, but Wright

expressed the hope that Magpies fans will treat the player with respect when

he plays against his former team in the future.

In addition to Ginnivan, Collingwood also lost out on veteran midfielder Taylor

Adams, whose shocking transfer to Sydney was finalized last week.

However, as they aim to win back-to-back premierships for the first time in

nearly 90 years, the Magpies are optimistic about their prospects of getting better the next season.

“We believe that progress will most likely result from Wright stated, “It was our

young guys above all, as well as Dan McStay and John Noble, who for various

reasons were not on the team on grand final day.”

“(Reef) McInnes and (Finlay) Macrae and Ed Allan and these guys who want and

deserve opportunity – that’s where we hope our improvement comes from.”
