Sunderland manager target ‘could emerge as an option’ for west ham united, but it’s unlikely – journalist
|Sunderland manager candidate ‘could emerge as an option’ for West Ham this summer
This summer, a prospective Sunderland manager candidate might be considered for a Premier League position.
Michael Beale was fired by Sunderland last week, and Mike Dodds took over as manager until the summer.
In his debut game as interim manager, Dodds led his team to a depressing 2-1 loss to Swansea City at home. This was the 37-year-old’s third stint in that capacity.
Even if Dodds is predicted to perhaps enter the running for the position on a permanent basis, there are still others who are connected.
The ideal summer managerial addition for Sunderland is reportedly Will Still,
while other names have also been connected, including Marek Papszun, a Polish coach.
Another person who is rumored to be familiar with the Sunderland owners is Steve Cooper, the former manager of
Nottingham Forest and Swansea City. However, Cooper might still be
considered for a Premier League position this summer.
Dean Jones thinks Steve Cooper could become late West Ham contender
West Ham appear to be gearing up for a managerial change of their own in the summer, with David Moyes under-fire.
Cooper has been linked with the potential opening, though journalist
Dean Jones believes the 44-year-old isn’t an immediate contender for the Hammers job.
Sunderland must be wary of potential West Ham interest in manager target Cooper
Like West Ham, Sunderland seem to have other managers, or rather one manager higher up on their wishlist this summer; Reims boss Still.
But if Sunderland fail to land him like they did after sacking Tony Mowbray, then they could look at alternatives, and Cooper could quickly come into the conversation.
Though if a similar case unfolds at West Ham then they too could turn to Cooper,
at which point there’d be a battle for the Welshman who’d no doubt pick the
Premier League team over the Championship one.
You can already anticipate that Kristjaan Speakman and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus will be making advances well in advance of the season’s conclusion.
With many arrivals and departures appearing imminent, Sunderland won’t
want to wait to appoint their next permanent manager and begin making
arrangements for their summer transfer window.
And should Cooper take over as manager, Sunderland can relax knowing
they have a manager with experience earning promotions and a reputation for
working with younger players after his success with the England U17s.
