Done deal: Top 2024 NFL Draft Prospect Says He Wants to Play for the jets as he wants to link up with Aaron Rodgers

New York Jets: Top 2024 NFL Draft Prospect Says He Wants to Play with Aaron Rodgers

The 2022 New York Jets finished seventh in the AFC East with a 7-10 record. The Jets failed to find a consistent winning formula despite the outstanding rookie campaigns of cornerback Sauce Gardner, running back Breece Hall (albeit his season was cut short by injury), and wide receiver Garrett Wilson. They believed that Zach Wilson, the 2021 second overall pick, was not prepared to start at quarterback. This was a major contributing factor to the problem.

They felt that getting a seasoned quarterback to coach Wilson for a few years was the best course of action. In 2022, they gave Joe Flacco a little go, but they felt he wasn’t good enough. Owner Woody Johnson and general manager Joe Douglas then turned their attention to Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, who was not happy.

The New York Jets Went Above and Beyond to Please Aaron Rodgers

Everyone knows by now how and why Rodgers wound up in New York. The four-time MVP’s incessant back-and-forth about his desire to play was becoming old for the Packers, who decided it was time to give Jordan Love more authority. After contacting Rodgers in the offseason but receiving no response, general manager Brian Gutekunst made the decision to move the future Hall of Famer to Green Bay.

After visiting the Jets, Rodgers ultimately decided to play for the team due to visits

from Woody Johnson, the owner of the team. One of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite colleagues in Green Bay, wide receiver

Allen Lazard, was signed by the team, which also helped. Additionally, they

added Nathaniel Hackett to their staff, who served as the Packers’ offensive

coordinator during Aaron Rodgers’ two most recent NFL MVP Awards.

Following the transaction, the Jets signed Tim Boyle, Adrian Amos, Billy Turner,

and former Packers Randall Cobb. It was hoped that Aaron Rodgers and his

friends from “back home” could help the Jets win a Super Bowl.

Neither Aaron Rodgers Nor His Former Teammates Lived Up to the Hype for the New York Jets in 2023

Regretfully, that did not transpire for the Jets. Following a well-reported training camp on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” which contributed to the team’s increased buzz, Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles tendon four snaps into his debut with New York. From that point on, everything became worse.

Despite having the worst statistical seasons of their careers, Lazard and Cobb were occasionally healthy scratches from games in the final part of the season. Boyle was released after his two starts for New York ended in disasters. Amos did the same, and they both played for the Houston Texans at the end of the season.

Turner was a member of one of the weakest offensive lines, playing only about 25% of the snaps In the NFL.

The coaching staff’s employment were only saved by Rodgers’ desire for them to stay after the Jets finished the season 7-

10 once more. In 2023, he also disregarded Zach Wilson, allowing the

inexperienced quarterback to fail. Wilson does not want to play for the Jets

again as a result, and New York clearly does not want him.

There were numerous accounts of dysfunction and finger-pointing, and it was a complete catastrophe. Despite this,

new players hoping to be selected by New York in the 2024 NFL Draft are still

motivated by the opportunity to play with the living icon.

Georgia Bulldogs Tight End Brock Bowers Wants to Play with Aaron Rodgers

It goes without saying that the Jets will need to strengthen in a number of areas this offseason, and the NFL Draft will

play a role in that. The offensive line, which need a lot of work, may be the

primary area of need for New York. To relieve Garrett Wilson of some of the

pressure, they also require some weapons for the passing game.

If one projected top-ten pick had it his way, he would be playing with Rodgers this season:

Brock Bowers on potentially being drafted by the #Jets:

“It’d be pretty sweet to play w/ Aaron Rodgers. He’s one of the best of All-Time

to do it at QB, & it’d be cool to learn under him & just play w/ him.”

Brock Bowers is considered by many to be a top-ten draft pick this year, with some having him going as high as fourth

overall to the Arizona Cardinals. And while Bowers will go wherever he is

drafted, he states in the video above that “it’d be cool to learn under him and play

with him and hopefully learn some stuff.”

Tyler Conklin, a tight end for the Jets, was second on the club in receiving yards (621 yards) the previous season.

But in 2024, he will be entering the last year of his deal. Given the abundance of

talented offensive lineman available, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Jets

addressed the tight end position in the selection. If Bowers is selected by them at

pick number 10, they might even consider taking him.

The offensive line, however, is the area that needs the most attention on that side of the ball. Although Bowers and Rodgers

together might be entertaining, it is unlikely to occur. If that’s the case, the

Jets will most likely select an offensive lineman with their third-round selection.
