Warriors’ Steve Kerr makes strong statement about Celtics’ title chances.

In Boston, the Golden State Warriors have clinched four of the last nine NBA championships, including their latest victory over the Celtics in 2022.

Nevertheless, head coach Steve Kerr expressed optimism about Boston’s potential to raise its own championship banner soon.

When asked about the Celtics’ chances of winning their first title since 2008, Kerr spoke highly of the team, acknowledging their consistent competitiveness over the

years. He praised the organization’s strong coaching, continuity, and overall capabilities, stating that they possess all the necessary elements for success.

Kerr emphasized that winning a championship often requires a bit of luck but emphasized that the Celtics have consistently positioned themselves for

success. He believes it’s only a matter of time before they break through, noting that the current Celtics team is the best version he has seen.

The Celtics have demonstrated their competitiveness by reaching at least the Eastern Conference Finals in five of the last seven seasons. Despite losing to the

Warriors in the 2022 Finals and falling short in the 2023 East Finals against the Miami Heat, they have continued to

strengthen their roster. President of basketball operations Brad Stevens bolstered the team last offseason by adding two All-Star caliber players, Jrue

Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, contributing to their impressive 47-12 record entering Sunday.

Kerr pointed out Holiday and Porzingis as the primary distinctions between this current Celtics team and the one Golden State faced in the 2022 Finals.

“These are two exceptional additions to an already formidable team,” Kerr

remarked. “Jrue’s defensive prowess and playmaking abilities fill the void left by Marcus Smart, while also adding another

dimension as a ball-handler. Kristaps, on the other hand, significantly impacts the game with his floor spacing and versatile offensive skills.”

Consequently, Kerr described the Celtics as a potent force.

Despite the Celtics being considered the favorites for the title, Kerr’s Warriors come into Sunday’s game as the 9th seed

in the Western Conference, just five games over .500 (32-27). However, they’ve shown strong form lately,

winning 11 of their last 13 games and claiming victory against the Celtics in two of their last three meetings since the 2022 Finals.

Thus, while Kerr holds a high regard for the Celtics, it’s expected that his team will pose a significant challenge to the league’s top team on Sunday afternoon.
