Unbelievable:Star player lied prior to his trade to OKC thunder

Chris Paul Was Lied to by Daryl Morey Before OKC Thunder Trade

In the summer of 2019, the Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Chris Paul by trading franchise mainstay Russell

Westbrook for Paul George, who was moved to the Clippers. This sparked the

Thunder’s unexpected run in the 2019–20 campaign, which culminated in an NBA

Bubble series spanning seven games against the Houston Rockets. Paul

appeared to be every bit the Hall of Famer he would later become when he

was traded to Phoenix and helped the Suns win the NBA Finals.

On The Why Podcast With Dwayne Wade, the renowned point guard remembers the summer of 2019 and how

being dealt to the Thunder was unexpected and a deceptive move. “I’m

in Vegas and I head to the gym to work out when Daryl phones me. “I was just

calling to make sure you didn’t wanna go to OKC,”

he added. I thought, “No, why?” I

have relocated fifteen folks to Houston. “Okay, I was just making sure,” he said.

Paul considered the relocation. “That’s what [Daryl Morey] had said, that he

would never trade you to somewhere you did not want to go because you chose

to come to us from the Clippers,”to me “Recalls Paul.

“After that, I head to Peach Jam, where Collin Sexton joins me for a workout. I was talking to Jada on the phone while I

was relaxing at the house, and the next thing I knew, I was getting traded.” Paul

went on, “Daryl [Morey] called when my phone

started ringing.Hey man, Daryl

thought, “It moves so fast.” The legendary point guard just had one question. “I

believe you stated that you would not trade me to Oklahoma City. “Yes, I did say

that, but that’s all I needed to know,” he said. Paul interrupted him. This is not the

first time a former player has accused Morey of

being a liar. Nevertheless, Paul

prevailed and is recognized for having assisted Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in

developing into a player deserving of the MVP award.
