Danny Murphy gushes over ‘unbelievable’ Leeds United amid fresh promotion verdict

Despite securing a victory at Elland Road, Leeds United’s Championship promotion competitors Leicester City and Ipswich Town also emerged triumphant in their matches against Sunderland and Bristol City, respectively.

The top three positions in the second division are tightly contested, with only

five points separating the teams. Leicester City’s recent three-match losing streak has brought them closer to Leeds and Ipswich.

Danny Murphy, speaking on talkSPORT, remarked, “In two of the three games that I saw, the Leeds game was unbelievable. They actually played really

well and made a hat-full of chances. I think they [Leicester City] will get over

the line, then it’s between Leeds and Ipswich [Town]. I was rooting for Leeds against Leicester the other week because I’ve got a little soft spot for them.”

Daniel Farke has guided the team to an impressive position, offering them the

opportunity to swiftly return to the top tier following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Leeds have secured 23 wins out of 36 league matches to date, trailing Leicester

by just five points at the summit, while the resurgence of the Tractor Boys with six consecutive wins has thrown them

back into the mix. The battle for promotion appears destined to go down to the wire, with Southampton gradually

slipping away from the top three positions, suggesting that their fate will likely be determined in the forthcoming weeks.

Of course, there is a very real possibility that the Whites are condemned to the playoff spots, with Leicester and Ipswich

claiming the top two spots, but with Farke’s Championship CV, fans are becoming more and more excited as the season goes on.

The 1-1 draw against 10-man Huddersfield Town was considered a setback, particularly with the Foxes

returning to winning form following three consecutive league defeats.

Nevertheless, Leeds remains optimistic about their chances of securing promotion this season.
