Falcons star responds to Kirk Cousins’ free agency rumors

Reports suggesting that Minnesota Vikings free agent Kirk Cousins is allegedly seeking his usual No. 8 jersey

from Atlanta Falcons star Kyle Pitts, which could imply more significant implications, have reached Pitts. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk shared what

he had heard about Cousins’ intentions during an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show” on March 5. However, Florio mentioned that he could not confirm that aspect of his report. The

report also mentioned Cousins exploring houses and schools. Pitts expressed his disbelief regarding Florio’s comments on social media.

“This is actually amusing,” Pitts remarked, referencing a clip of Florio’s comments on X, in a post on what was previously known as Twitter on March 6. “You guys come up with anything.”

Florio mentioned on McAfee’s show, “You got things coming back to me that I confirm from people … who would know,

that there’s an effort to look for, maybe, schools for the kids, house for the family, up to and including – I haven’t confirmed this part yet, but it’s just one of those

little things that make sense – talking to the guy who currently wears No. 8, Kyle Pitts, about getting No. 8.”

There are additional, more concrete connections between Cousins and the Falcons.

Falcons running back Bijan Robinson shared his thoughts on the situation, expressing his expectation that Cousins would likely return to the Vikings next season. However, he did mention the possibility of the Falcons accommodating Cousins.

“He could come to us,” Robinson stated on “Sports Seriously” on February 14. “I kinda have a feeling he might stay in Minnesota.”

Cousins’ wife, Julie, is from the area, and he has several connections to the Falcons coaching staff, including newly-appointed Head Coach Raheem Morris, dating back to their time together with the Washington Commanders’ organization.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank is reportedly keen on the idea of acquiring the four-time Pro Bowler, Kirk Cousins, in free agency.

WSB-TV Sports Director Zach Klein mentioned on “Dukes and Bell” on 92.9 The Game in Atlanta on February 29, stating, “All eyes, all arrows everything points towards Kirk Cousins. Arthur

Blank has basically told this front office, ‘Do what you got to do. Pay what you’ve got to pay. Get it done.'” However, General Manager Terry Fotenot and Head Coach Raheem Morris have not explicitly stated such intentions.

Regarding other claims made by Florio, KTSP’s Darren Wolfson refuted the assertion that Cousins had explored housing and schooling options in Atlanta. Wolfson stated on “Mackey & Judd” on March 5, “I did follow up on that Florio report with one person who knows Kirk

incredibly well. He shot that down.” Wolfson emphasized that while Cousins potentially relocating to Atlanta is plausible, the extent of his involvement in such preparations may be overstated.

The only aspect of Florio’s comments that went unchallenged was Cousins’ potential frustration, as noted by the long-time reporter, who mentioned his sense of it based on a conversation between his and Cousins’ wives.
