Sunderland coach target ‘open’ to job as he says he ‘needs to end his vacation’

Reports in Poland claim Marek Popszun is interested in Sunderland as he gets ready to end ‘vacation’ from football.
According to sources from Poland, Marek Papszun is “open” to the idea of taking Michael Beale’s place as Sunderland’s manager.
The 49-year-old hasn’t had a job since the end of the previous campaign, when he shocked the Polish public by leaving Rakow Czestochowa after helping them win the Ekstraklasa championship.
After taking over the club while it was in the third tier of the Polish game just
seven years earlier, that title was the culmination of an amazing journey for Papszun.
After Beale’s dismissal on Monday, he was among the first names to be connected to the Sunderland position, and reports from the Polish media also indicated he is a serious contender.
Legia Warsaw, the Polish national team, and Premier League Brighton have all made approaches to him since he left Rakow.
Since last summer, Papszun has taken a hiatus akin to that of Jurgen Klopp to rejuvenate, but he has stated that he is now prepared to take on a new task.
When Papszun accepted his 2023 coach of the year title in February, he stated,
“This forced me to reflect and summarize.”
“And that’s what I concluded: we should stop our holiday and return to work.
Youth are pressing, and time is running out.
“I have to accept this challenge because I enjoy competition and other coaches aren’t sitting around.”
