Why the Falcons should draft Drake Maye of North Carolina.

In a recent interview with Will McFadden on the Bleav In Falcons podcast, Trevor Sikkema of PFF

advocated for a bold move by Atlanta’s front office to draft North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye. However, there’s a significant obstacle to this idea:

Maye might be selected before the Falcons get a chance to pick, considering they hold the eighth overall selection. They may need to trade up to secure him,

especially with other top quarterback prospects like Caleb Williams from USC and Jayden Daniels from LSU also on the board.

Sikkema highlighted Maye’s potential fit with the Falcons’ offense, particularly his ability to attack the intermediate middle

of the field, an area where he has demonstrated proficiency over the past two seasons. Despite his age, Sikkema believes Maye’s experience and skill set

make him a valuable asset, with his comfortability throwing downfield and operating both inside and outside the pocket.

Additionally, Sikkema mentioned other quarterback options for the Falcons, including Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy, who

excels in play-action and roll-out situations, and Oregon’s Bo Nix, whom he believes has been unfairly criticized due to factors like age and offensive

scheme. Overall, Sikkema emphasized the importance of prioritizing talent and fit over age concerns when evaluating quarterback prospects for the Falcons.
