Official Done deal:Jets Sign Super Bowl Cornerback

Jets Sign Super Bowl Cornerback From 49ers

The New York Jets have reportedly inked a one-year deal with former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Isaiah Oliver,

as confirmed by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. This move aims to fortify the Jets’ depth at nickel corner while potentially adding a contributor to their perimeter defense. Oliver, aged 27,

played a significant role in the 49ers’ 12-5 record during the 2023 regular season, amassing 67 total tackles, two tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, two passes defensed, and one interception.

During the Niners’ journey to Super Bowl LVIII, Oliver primarily contributed on special teams, logging 35 snaps across three playoff games. Selected by the Atlanta Falcons as the No. 58 overall pick

in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft from Colorado, Oliver swiftly established himself as one of Atlanta’s dependable defenders. Despite a knee injury limiting him to just four games in

2021, he appeared in 62 games (starting 38) during his five-year tenure with the Falcons. In his time with Atlanta, he tallied 203 total tackles, 34 passes defensed, three forced fumbles (recovering one), and two interceptions.

Despite signing a two-year deal with the 49ers last season, Oliver was released last month, freeing up $2.4 million in cap space for the team. With his move to the Jets, Oliver embarks on a new chapter, marking his third NFL team in his seventh season in the league.

Alongside the acquisition of Oliver, the New York Jets made another move by re-signing safety Chuck Clark on Sunday. The official commencement of the NFL year is scheduled for March 13 at 4 p.m.

ET. However, teams are permitted to commence negotiations with free agents from March 11, marking the onset of the league’s legal tampering period.
