Dave Roberts says Dodgers dodged a bullet by injuring Blake Treinen.

During a recent spring training game, Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen was hit by a comebacker, prompting his early exit from the game. Although the injury appeared concerning at first, Treinen emerged largely unharmed.

Following X-rays, it was determined that Treinen did not sustain any rib fractures. However, he did suffer a bruised lung. Despite this injury, manager Dave Roberts expressed optimism that Treinen might still be fit for Korea.

This development is a relief for Treinen and the Dodgers alike. Treinen aimed to contribute significantly to the Dodgers’

bullpen after missing the entirety of 2023 and a substantial portion of 2022. He felt a sense of responsibility to fulfill his

contract obligations and make an impact in 2024. Thankfully, this unexpected setback during spring training isn’t anticipated to hinder his prospects.

Treinen has showcased excellent form during Cactus League play, delivering 3.2 scoreless innings with only two hits

allowed and two strikeouts. Provided he remains in good condition, he is likely to play a role in the Dodgers’ bullpen for one of the two games in Korea.
