So sad :The New York Jets Are Selling Out to Protect a QB That Might Abandon Them in 2024

The New York Jets Are Selling Out to Protect a QB That Might Abandon Them in 2024.

Following the abrupt end to New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ season

after only a few plays, the organization has prioritized safeguarding one of the league’s premier arm talents.

Despite the Jets’ efforts to bolster protection for Rodgers, there are reports suggesting that he is considering the

possibility of joining Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his running mate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. As per the New York Times, Rodgers is among the

candidates being considered for the vice president role alongside former Minnesota governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura.

Since the commencement of the free agency tampering window on Monday, the New York Jets have been proactive in

fortifying their roster to better shield quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Their first move involved reaching an agreement

with seasoned guard John Simpson, who notably started all 19 games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, contributing to the NFL’s most efficient rushing attack.

According to NFL Insider Tom Pelissero, the Jets are poised to sign Simpson to a two-year contract valued at up to $18 million.

New York Jets then proceeded to acquire another offensive lineman from the Ravens, right tackle Morgan Moses. The

Jets traded a fourth-round pick (No. 112) and a sixth-round pick (No. 218) to the Ravens in exchange for Moses and a later fourth-round pick (No. 134).

In what marked the most significant move for the Jets this offseason, they reached an agreement with former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro and Pro Bowl left

tackle Tyron Smith. Although Smith has grappled with injuries, he remains one of the premier protectors for the blindside in the league when healthy.

With these acquisitions, the Jets have significantly revamped their offensive

line, a position group that was criticized for its role in the early season-ending injury sustained by Rodgers.

However, the timeline for fulfilling the duties of an NFL quarterback for a team like the New York Jets and running for vice president does not align well. The

presidential election is scheduled for November, a crucial period for NFL quarterbacks aiming for a postseason run. Campaign activities typically

intensify in June and July, which are vital preparation months, particularly for someone recovering from a challenging injury.

Rodgers has not taken a live snap in football since the opening game of the 2023 season. If he chooses to accept the challenge, he would be tasked with recovering from an Achilles tear and

swiftly adjusting to the pace of NFL football while simultaneously running for one of the highest offices in the world, let alone the country.

In an article from The Athletic, Rodgers expressed his willingness to embrace controversy and doubt, both of which would likely be abundant if he were to accept Kennedy Jr.’s offer.

“I welcome the doubts,” Rodgers stated in September regarding the recovery timeline for his Achilles injury. “Give me

the timetables. Give me all the things that you think can, should, or will happen, because all I need is that extra one

percent of inspiration. That’s all I need. Give me your doubts, give me your prognostications, and then watch what I do.”

Rodgers, who made an appearance on Kennedy Jr.’s social media in late February, has not refuted the possibility of his potential involvement.
