Wild jubilation in Brooklyn Nets as they strike important deals with Toronto Raptors  

 

 

The Brooklyn Nets have traded guard Spencer Dinwiddie to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for guard Dennis Schröder and forward Thaddeus Young. Additionally, the Nets have waived center Harry Giles III.

 

Schröder, standing at 6’3” and weighing 175 pounds, has appeared in 51 games (33 starts) for the Raptors this season. He has averaged 13.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 85.2 percent from the free-throw line. Notably, Schröder has maintained a 3.77 assist-to-turnover ratio, ranking him 10th in the league, and has played a key role in Germany’s gold medal win at the FIBA World Cup. Throughout his NBA career spanning 11 seasons with various teams, including the Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, and others, Schröder has posted career averages of 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

 

In return for Schröder and Young, the Nets have sent Dinwiddie to the Raptors. Dinwiddie, who started 48 games for the Nets this season, averaged 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. He has played a total of 348 games across two stints with the Nets, showcasing averages of 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.

 

Furthermore, the Nets have waived center Harry Giles III, who appeared in 16 games off the bench this season, averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Giles was initially signed by Brooklyn as a free agent on September 6, 2023.
