Doctors confirms Bryce Harper will be out for long time due to injury as he will missĀ

Bryce Harper is contending with a back problem as Opening Day approaches swiftly. While the Philadelphia Phillies

express confidence, it’s concerning that he has missed three consecutive games due to this issue. Phillies manager Rob Thomson provided an update on Harper,

stating that he’s experiencing minor back stiffness, which prompted them to give him a break from recent spring training action.

Thomson emphasized that there’s no significant concern regarding Harper’s condition, attributing the stiffness to the

extensive work he’s been putting in, both offensively and defensively. Although Harper has dealt with similar issues in

the past, Thomson reiterated his belief that Harper will be fully prepared for Opening Day and expects him to return to play by the end of the week.

Despite the Phillies’ assurance of Harper’s readiness for Opening Day, it remains noteworthy how much playing time he will receive in the remaining spring training games.

Harper is undergoing a significant transformation in 2024. Initially starting his career as an outfielder, he

transitioned to a designated hitter (DH) in 2023 following Tommy John surgery. Now, Harper has shifted to become a full-time first baseman.

While this adjustment may not appear substantial, transitioning between positions requires adapting to a different rhythm, particularly when moving from

the outfield to the infield or vice versa. Despite Harper’s prior experience at first base, acclimating to this new role may still present challenges.

Another notable storyline surrounding Harper this offseason, albeit one that has quieted down recently, is the speculation about a potential contract extension.

Initially signing a 13-year deal with Philadelphia, Harper was reportedly interested in extending his tenure with the Phillies well into his 40s.
