Tyrone Mings drops major return hint as he relives ‘eye opening’ moments after injury

Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Tyrone Mings continues to make encouraging progress in his rehabilitation from an ACL injury

Aston Villa’s center back Updates on Tyrone Mings’ recovery after his August ACL injury have been made public.

On the first day of the Premier League season, Mings suffered the main injury during the first half of Villa’s 5-1 loss to

Newcastle United. After chasing the ball with Alexander Isak, he fell in agony and

was carried off the field and transported to the hospital on a stretcher.

Soon after, Villa announced that their defender will miss the remainder of the season due to serious ligament injury to

his knee. Mings left for the United States to begin his rehabilitation, and in the last

few weeks, he has been providing updates.

Mings wrote on Instagram in February, saying, “I’m going to keep it 100.” Though I’m truly loving the battle to get back on the field, I can’t wait to go back there.”

His most recent post, which includes a photo of him working out at Bodymoor Heath’s gym, provides an upbeat report on his progress. It may take some time for a patient’s leg to grow back to its pre-operation size and appearance following ACL surgery. Three months following surgery, there may be a thirty percent reduction in quadriceps muscle mass compared to the untreated limb.

Mings’ latest picture shows that he has made excellent progress and he labelled it with the caption: “pic from last week cos I thought I looked good.” In the same post, Mings also said: “when days feel tough, looking back at how far I’ve come is a real eye opener”, including pictures and videos from his journey so far. He ended the post with the ‘back soon’ emoji.

Meanwhile, Emi Buendia stepped up his recovery from his ACL injury by

returning to the grass at Bodymoor Heath for some individual work with the

ball. Buendia sustained his ACL injury a few days before Tyrone Mings during

training ahead of the first game of the Premier League season.

“Always they are in our mind,” Unai Emery said of the duo. “They have spirit

and they support us in the training ground. I think all the season they are

going to be out, but hopefully they can train at the end of the season. Then

starting next season being fine to come back like before.”
