Reasons why Falcons to complete blockbuster deal for Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick

The Falcons currently have a modest surplus of about $4 million in cap space, but this doesn’t preclude them from creating more room for impactful offseason acquisitions.

If Atlanta were in need of substantial cap space to acquire a star player, they could explore options such as restructuring the

contracts of key players like Jake Matthews, Chris Lindstrom, Grady Jarrett, and Jessie Bates, while also considering parting ways with Lorenzo

Carter and Mike Hughes. This strategy could potentially yield an additional $40+ million in cap space for the Falcons to utilize.

Moreover, the potential extension of A.J. Terrell’s contract could further contribute to the team’s cap space. This

underscores the notion that no player is off limits for Atlanta, as they remain open to exploring various avenues to bolster their roster.

While there are several notable free agents available, the focus on social media has centered around Haason Reddick. Despite initial reports

suggesting he was available for trade, which Reddick later refuted, there has been continued speculation about his availability.

If Reddick were indeed available, the Falcons should seriously consider pursuing a potential blockbuster trade,

followed by a contract extension. With Reddick’s impressive track record, including All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors,

along with consistent sack production, acquiring him through a trade and extending his contract could significantly bolster the Falcons’ defense.

Reddick, despite approaching 30 next season, shows no signs of slowing down. Entering the final year of his contract

with a base salary exceeding $14 million, any trade would likely entail negotiating a new deal.

Transitioning from an average annual value (AAV) of $15 million to potentially over $20 million per year represents a

significant increase for Reddick. However, consistent production of 10+ sack seasons justifies such a valuation.

Comparable players in terms of performance set the standard against which Reddick will be evaluated.

With the Falcons having a pressing need and Reddick seeking a lucrative contract, the situation poses challenges for Howie

Roseman, especially considering impending contract extensions for several key Eagles players.

In contrast, the Falcons have the financial flexibility to invest, considering the limited timeframe with Kirk Cousins.

With only a two-year window remaining with the veteran quarterback, Atlanta must prioritize upgrading the position to

remain competitive. A potential trade for Haason Reddick aligns perfectly with the goals of Raheem Morris, Terry Fontenot, and Arthur Blank.
