Very Bad News:Lions Cornerback Cameron Sutton have been arrested in Florida and could face a life imprison

Cameron Sutton, a Detroit Lions cornerback, is wanted on domestic violence charges in Florida.

Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton is facing allegations of felony

domestic violence following an incident on March 7 in Hillsborough County, Florida. According to reports from The

Detroit News and Detroit Free Press on Wednesday, Sutton, aged 29, is currently unaccounted for.

The accusation against Sutton involves domestic battery by strangulation, which is classified as a felony offense in Florida

and carries a potential penalty of up to five years of imprisonment. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has

issued a public arrest warrant for Sutton’s apprehension and has solicited assistance in locating him through a post on X.

Authorities have provided information indicating that Sutton may be driving a

Jeep Grand Wagoneer with license plate number FL-AZ33QB. Initially described as wanted for aggravated battery

involving domestic violence, the charge has since been specified as domestic battery by strangulation by the sheriff’s department.

According to Phil Martello, a representative from the sheriff’s department, a 911 call placed at 4:35 a.m.

on March 7 reported an ongoing incident of domestic violence involving Cameron Sutton and a woman. The Detroit Free

Press reported that the woman sustained injuries, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Sutton on the same day.

Law enforcement authorities believe that Sutton is currently in Florida rather than

Michigan, but they have been unable to locate him in the Tampa Bay area and suspect that he may have fled.

Hillsborough County, where the incident occurred, encompasses the broader Tampa Bay region.

Martello informed The Detroit News that the alleged victim has not been identified

by the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Department, and attempts to reach Sutton over a two-week period prior to

making the matter public were unsuccessful. It is reported that Sutton possesses a residence in a nearby county and multiple vehicles, but he has not

been seen at his home and is believed to have evaded local law enforcement by possibly disabling or discarding his phone.

Court records from Hillsborough County indicate that Sutton filed a paternity lawsuit against a 35-year-old woman from Florida in August 2022. However, it

has not been confirmed whether this woman is the same individual involved in the incident on March 7.

The Detroit Lions released a statement acknowledging Sutton’s legal situation

and stated that the NFL organization is closely monitoring the developments but declined to provide further comment.

Sutton, who joined the Lions as a free agent during the 2023 offseason, signed a three-year, $33 million contract after

spending his first six NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the 2023 season, he started all 17 regular-season games and three playoff games for the

Lions. However, the Lions were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on January 28, despite Sutton’s contributions.

Sutton was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft following his college football career at the University of Tennessee.
