Unbelievable:Cowboys owner Jerry Jones delivers a strong message ahead of 2024 season

According to owner Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys will be “all in” for the 2024 season.

Owner Jerry Jones has declared that the Dallas Cowboys are going “all in” for the 2024 season, but recent moves, or lack thereof, suggest otherwise.

Despite three consecutive 12-win seasons, the Cowboys have experienced disappointing early exits from the playoffs. There’s a growing sentiment in

the NFL that if this talented group fails to make a significant playoff run in 2024, Jones may consider a reset and start anew.

Jones notably chose not to exercise the fifth-year option for head coach Mike

McCarthy, signaling that no coach enters the 2024 season with higher expectations.

Most observers anticipated that Jerry Jones would secure a contract extension

with Dak Prescott, which would have provided much-needed relief for the Dallas Cowboys in managing their salary

cap constraints. However, as of now, no deal has been finalized, and it appears that negotiations are not close to completion.

During this offseason, the Cowboys have made only one acquisition in free agency while parting ways with key contributors

such as tackle Tyron Smith, wide receiver Michael Gallup, running back Tony Pollard, and linebacker Leighton Vander-Esch, among others.

Without a clear strategy to land impact players in the NFL Draft, it’s challenging to envision Prescott thriving with diminished offensive weapons, reduced

protection, and a defense that has undergone significant changes, including the departure of its coordinator, key coaches, and several key players.

Although Dallas still boasts star talent in CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, relying solely on existing personnel without bolstering the roster through offseason moves is not a viable strategy.

Prescott had an exceptional regular season in 2023, but he has historically performed best when supported by a

reliable tight end (currently available), a bona fide No. 1 wide receiver (Lamb), and a versatile running back capable of

creating mismatches, facilitating deep passing opportunities through play-action, and contributing as a receiver out of the backfield.

Ezekiel Elliott previously filled the primary running back role for the Dallas Cowboys, and while Tony Pollard performed better in a shared backfield with Elliott than as the sole starter last season, he still played a significant role in the team’s success in 2023.

There has been much speculation regarding how the Cowboys will address the vacancy at running back, especially with top targets like Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry no longer available. With

the second tier of starting-caliber backs like Josh Jacobs, Aaron Jones, and D’Andre Swift also signed with other teams, the options for Dallas are limited.

Currently, Deuce Vaughn and Rico Dowdle are the top two running backs on the Cowboys’ roster, a situation that concerns the fan base heading into the regular season.

Following Ezekiel Elliott’s decline and departure, the Cowboys have been striving to resolve their running back

situation. With the recent signing of Rico Dowdle, the team now needs to find another running back for their roster.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine has proposed a potential solution in free agent running back JK Dobbins, a former

second-round pick from the Baltimore Ravens. Dobbins made a significant impact as a rookie in 2020, rushing for

805 yards, scoring nine touchdowns, and averaging six yards per carry. However, injuries have hindered his career progression, including a season-ending

knee injury in 2021 and subsequent complications that limited his playing time in 2022 and 2023, appearing in just one game last season.

The ex-Ohio State standout, who recorded only 22 rushing yards last season, may experience a revitalization with the Dallas Cowboys, particularly alongside Dak Prescott in the same backfield.

Currently, he appears to be an ideal candidate for Dallas to sign to a contract that benefits the team, given the potential upside that could capture the interest of Jerry Jones and his team.

Baltimore Ravens’ 2020 second-round pick, J.K. Dobbins, aligns well with the offensive plans of the Dallas Cowboys and could serve as a suitable addition to their roster.
