Matt Strahm, a former lefthander for the Red Sox, and the Phillies reach a $7.5 million contract extension.

Left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm and the Philadelphia Phillies reached an agreement on Sunday for a $7.5 million contract for the 2025 season, with a team option included for 2026.

Strahm is currently under a $15 million, two-year contract, with a salary of $7.5 million for the current year, which

marks the final season of his existing deal. He would have been eligible for free agency after the conclusion of the World Series.

Last year, the 32-year-old posted a record of 9-5 with a 3.29 ERA and secured two saves across 10 starts and 46 relief appearances. During the postseason, he

delivered 5⅓ scoreless innings over seven games and earned a save in the decisive game of the NL Division Series against Atlanta.

Before the 2022 season, Strahm joined the Red Sox on a one-year deal worth $3 million, concluding the season with a

3.72 ERA across 50 appearances, along with four saves. During this time, he recorded 52 strikeouts and issued 17

walks. Following the season, he became a free agent and subsequently signed with the Philadelphia Phillies.
