|Roberto De Zerbi talks about him Link to Liverpool and Bayern Munich
Roberto De Zerbi acknowledges the interest from Bayern Munich with a sense of flattery but is not in a hurry to make a decision regarding his long-term
future. The 44-year-old coach has garnered attention as one of Europe’s most promising talents since taking over at Brighton in September 2022. His
success in the Premier League, which includes securing the club’s first-ever European campaign, has caught the eye of several elite clubs. De Zerbi has been
linked with various coaching positions, including a possible role at Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp will depart at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich has emerged as another club expressing interest in De Zerbi, with
reports from Bild suggesting that talks have taken place between the German
giants and the Brighton manager. However, it’s mentioned that Xabi Alonso remains their top priority.
While De Zerbi is intrigued by the opportunity to potentially replace Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena, he
intends to keep his options open and won’t rush into any decisions regarding his future, especially with more interest expected in the summer.
Interestingly, Liverpool is also considering Xabi Alonso alongside De Zerbi for the managerial position.
Reports suggest that De Zerbi has been shortlisted for the upcoming vacancy at Anfield. Richard Hughes, the newly
appointed sporting director under Michael Edwards, will be responsible for determining the right candidate to succeed Klopp.
Alonso is reportedly Liverpool’s top choice due to his successful tenure at Bayer Leverkusen. However, other
coaches like De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim remain under consideration as Klopp’s tenure nears its end.
Bayern Munich’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness, acknowledged recently that the club is exerting significant efforts to
entice Alonso back to his former club. Despite this, Leverkusen remains optimistic that Alonso will reject interest
from both Bayern Munich and Liverpool to stay in his current position for the upcoming season.
