Breaking:Sam Burgess’s statement on replacing Jason Demetrius as the New Rabbitohs

Sam Burgess’s remarks regarding the speculation that he will soon return to South Sydney.

SAM Burgess has moved to dispel rumors of an imminent return to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, emphasizing his

unwavering commitment to leading the Warrington Wolves for the duration of his two-year contract. Regardless of developments at his former club, where

he enjoyed a significant portion of his playing career, Burgess maintains his focus on his coaching role with the Wolves.

Burgess is revered at Souths for his contributions, particularly his pivotal role in their Premiership-winning side of

2014, during which he amassed 195 NRL appearances for the club across two stints. Following his retirement, he

transitioned to a coaching role with the club before departing last year to assume his first head coaching position in the top flight with The Wire in England.

In Australia, however, the Rabbitohs head coach Jason Demetriou is feeling

the heat after a winless start to the 2024 season, adding fuel to speculation about

a possible return to Redfern for Wire boss Sam Burgess, who previously served as an assistant coach under Demetriou last year.

Despite the rumors, Wire chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick made it clear to the Australian newspaper, the Daily

Telegraph, earlier this week that there would be no consideration given to any approach for Burgess. Now, the head coach himself has reiterated this stance.

“I am fully content with the progress we are making at Warrington, both on the

field as a team and within the community as a club,” Burgess stated. “I am under contract with Warrington for

the next two years, and there are no plans to alter that agreement. My family and I are thoroughly enjoying our time here.”
