News Now:Star of the New York Jets Sauce Gardner reveals what he really meant by Jews run the world ..
|New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner faced criticism after making comments that echoed an antisemitic trope during a video with influencer Adin Ross. Gardner, 23, who was drafted fourth overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, joined Ross
in a livestream where Ross made a remark about being Jewish. Gardner responded by saying, “Imma be honest,
like no funny weird shit,” and made a comment about Jewish people having influence in the world and walking in airports.
Following backlash for his comments, Gardner issued an apology on X, formerly Twitter, stating that while his intentions were positive, he was
unaware of the negative implications of his words and appreciated those who educated him on the matter.
In a now-deleted post, Gardner also expressed love for all people, including Jewish individuals, and mentioned that
the majority of his agency and marketing team are Jewish. He suggested that his words were misinterpreted and meant to
convey positivity. The New York Jets did not respond to a request for comment from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Gardner is the latest athlete to face accusations of antisemitism on social
media. In 2020, NFL star DeSean Jackson posted antisemitic quotes attributed to Adolf Hitler and later apologized. NBA
player Meyers Leonard used an antisemitic slur on Twitch in 2021 and apologized afterward. In 2022, NBA star
Kyrie Irving faced backlash for promoting an antisemitic film and initially hesitated to apologize.
Ross, who has millions of followers on various platforms, defended Gardner in a response to his post, stating that
Gardner did nothing wrong and that his comment about Jewish influence was meant positively. Ross has faced controversy in the past, including
offering to interview Kanye West after West’s antisemitic remarks. He has also been banned from Twitch for racist,
homophobic, and antisemitic speech and has associated with Andrew Tate, a far-right influencer arrested for human trafficking.
