Sad News : Tears in Falcons as Star player has terminated his contract

With Kirk Cousins now on board, the Falcons are signaling to the league that their window to compete has officially opened.

The team’s two most pressing needs are cornerback and EDGE, with the latter being of greater importance in my view. One potential trade target that remains available is Haason Reddick.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN recently linked the Falcons to the Eagles’ pass rusher, and another report from Jake Rabadi has shed light on the asking price — at least a second-round pick.

According to Rabadi, “The Eagles have had some trade discussions regarding

Reddick, a source said, but nothing has come close to materializing. The Eagles are seeking at least a second-round pick.”

However, offering a second-round pick may be a bit steep for a 30-year-old player who is entering the final season of

his three-year deal and will require a new contract. Reddick is reportedly seeking $25 million per year in his next contract.

Presently, $25 million per year for a pass rusher who hasn’t tallied fewer than 11 sacks since 2019, with 27 sacks over the last two seasons, is considered the

standard rate in today’s market. Considering this, a second-round draft pick might be deemed excessive by Terry Fontenot.

In a similar vein, Montez Sweat commanded a second-round pick and

subsequently secured a contract extension. The Falcons were reportedly interested in Sweat before the Bears

intervened with a higher second-round pick. Sweat, who is two years younger than Reddick, is coming off his first season with double-digit sacks.

Irrespective of the cost, the Falcons are in dire need of an impact pass rusher. Fontenot must be willing to take risks to maximize the team’s potential during

this window with Kirk Cousins. While it may not necessarily involve a trade for Haason Reddick, decisive action is imperative.
