In 2022, Brighton CEO Paul Barber revealed that the club had begun the

search for a successor to their manager immediately after the appointment of the Italian coach.

Barber stated to Sky Sports (via Sussex World) that it might seem unusual, but it’s standard practice in football to

anticipate managerial changes and prepare accordingly. He mentioned that although Graham’s departure came

sooner than expected, the club had already invested significant effort into identifying the type of manager they wanted as his replacement.

Barber explained that Brighton evaluates coaches across Europe, considering factors such as their style of play, the resources they have at their disposal,

and their results. This evaluation process helps the club compile a shortlist of potential candidates, which proved crucial when Graham departed.

According to reports from Football Espana, the 44-year-old coach, contracted

with Brighton until 2026, has a buyout clause in his contract valued at £12.8 million.

Liverpool and potentially Bayern Munich stand to benefit from Brighton’s well-established management structure.

However, Liverpool may want to keep tabs on the potential successor Brighton is considering for De Zerbi.

Thankfully, there appear to be other options available if Liverpool cannot

secure Xabi Alonso this summer or if they are not fully committed to pursuing the Brighton manager. This notion arises

following reports that the 39-year-old performed impressively in internal data assessments conducted by William Spearman.

It appears that Liverpool won’t be restricted to pursuing just one option if Xabi Alonso decides to remain in his current position.
