Injury update: Phil Hay Reveals Leeds player is out of season due to injury

Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk will miss the remainder of the season following surgery for his latest injury setback, as reported by Phil Hay.

During a pre-match press conference on March 27, The Athletic journalist spoke to manager Daniel Farke, who described the surgery as “long and complicated.”

It has been confirmed that Struijk is expected to return for pre-season ahead of the next campaign, although there is

uncertainty surrounding Leeds’ bid for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

This update comes after Dr. Rajpal Brar informed MOT Leeds News that Struijk had already been sidelined for three months with an adductor injury and the need for surgery had been evident for

over a month. Recovery is expected to require a considerable amount of time to ensure Struijk can return to training without risking further setbacks.

However, amidst this injury setback, one silver lining is that Struijk would have faced a tough challenge to reclaim his

spot in Leeds’ starting lineup, given the outstanding form of Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu. Journalist Beren Cross even suggested it would be nearly impossible for Struijk to regain his starting position.

Rodon’s performances have been particularly noteworthy, leading to speculation about a permanent transfer to Elland Road, especially after

expressing his desire to stay. As a result, Rodon’s place in the starting XI appears secure for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, Ampadu has emerged as one of the most dependable players in the Championship this season while at

Elland Road, establishing himself as an integral component of the team under Farke, whether deployed in midfield or in defense.
