Leeds United are set to earn Multi Millions from a deal they will strike with Chelsea

Leeds United made a remarkable acquisition when they secured Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

Since his arrival from Chelsea, Ethan Ampadu has emerged as one of the standout signings in the Championship this season for Leeds United. Displaying remarkable consistency, he has established himself as a crucial player in the midfield, although his versatility has seen him also feature prominently as a center-back, especially in recent months.

Ampadu signed a four-year contract with Leeds United for a fee reported to be around £7 million, with potential add-ons reaching up to £10 million. Additionally, Chelsea included a sell-on clause in the deal. This marked the end of Ampadu’s six-year stint at Stamford Bridge, where he joined the club’s setup at the age of 16 from Exeter City in 2017.

Despite his limited opportunities at Chelsea, Ampadu showcased his talent during loan spells at clubs such as RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, Sheffield United in the Premier League, and Serie A sides Venezia and Spezia.

Leeds United faced competition for Ampadu’s signature, with interest from mid-table teams in Italy’s top flight, as well as attention from clubs in the Bundesliga and Premier League. However, it was the Championship that ultimately attracted the most significant interest.

According to sources, Ampadu’s decision to join Leeds United was influenced by the club’s improved management under

49ers Enterprises, particularly the appointment of individuals like Nick Hammond. Furthermore, the move provided Ampadu with a sense of

stability, as he settled into his first permanent home in some time and quickly integrated into the club’s setup at Eland Road.

In my opinion, Ampadu has established himself as the top player at Leeds, and he’s undoubtedly a strong contender for

the club’s Player of the Year accolade. His signing has proven to be nearly flawless, as he has featured prominently in nearly every minute of every match so far.

Although he had brief stints on the bench for Wales, serving as an unused

substitute in a friendly against Gibraltar and playing one half in a match against South Korea earlier in the season, he has

rarely had moments of rest. Despite his heavy workload, his performances have been of exceptional quality, consistency, and determination.

Ampadu is arguably the standout midfielder in the league, with Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara being the

closest contenders. However, neither possess the same defensive prowess, ability to break up play, and initiate attacks from deep as Ampadu does in his

role as a number-six. Furthermore, they lean more towards attacking play, making the comparison somewhat unfair.

Although players like Ampadu may not always receive the recognition they deserve due to their limited goal-scoring and assisting contributions, the Welshman excels in ball-winning,

carrying, and distributing the ball swiftly through direct passing into the final third or wide areas. His value has significantly increased not only due to his consistent performances but also because of his growing leadership role.

This season, he has captained the team on 13 occasions, emerging as a key figure in the Elland Road dressing room.

Ampadu possesses the mental fortitude, technical ability, and physical strength

required to thrive in the competitive environment of the Championship. He fits perfectly into Farke’s possession-

based style of play while also proving to be instrumental in winning back possession and facilitating quick transitions.

Despite Leeds securing his services for £7 million in the summer, with potential

additional payments amounting to £10 million, Ampadu’s value has already soared. Transfermarkt currently values

him at €15 million (£12.8 million), while the Football Transfers website estimates his expected transfer valuation (xTV) to be around €22.2 million (£19 million).

These figures may be considered conservative, and Leeds could feasibly demand well over £25 million for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Whether deployed as a center-back or in midfield, Ampadu serves as the linchpin of Farke’s team and is destined for top-flight football next season. Should Leeds

decide to sell him, they can expect a substantial return on their investment, having secured a true bargain from Chelsea.
