Unbelievable:Panthers put on a superb performance despite Cleary’s absence to sink Rosters

Panthers put on a superb performance despite Cleary’s absence to sink Rosters.

Sunia Turuva secured his first NRL hat-trick as Penrith triumphed over the Sydney Roosters with a 22-16 victory, despite the absence of Nathan Cleary.

Cleary, along with Scott Sorensen and James Fisher-Harris, was sidelined due to a hamstring injury, potentially sidelining him for a month.

Despite Cleary’s absence, Penrith showcased their resilience and defensive prowess against the Roosters. Coach Ivan

Cleary expressed pride in his team’s performance, highlighting their ability to adapt to changes in personnel and maintain their game plan.

Dylan Edwards played a pivotal role in establishing an early 14-0 lead, while

debutant Brad Schneider effectively managed Cleary’s duties as the team’s halfback.

The Roosters were left to lament a mistake-riddled beginning and a crucial no-try decision that had a significant impact on the final outcome.

Joey Manu appeared to score the Roosters’ first try, but the officials ruled out the try due to an obstruction by decoy runner Jared Waerea-Hargreaves. However, after Sunia Turuva scored twice early in the second half, the Roosters faced an uphill battle at 22-6.

Despite late tries from Brandon Smith and Daniel Tupou, the Roosters couldn’t avoid their ninth consecutive defeat to the Panthers.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson acknowledged his team’s effort in rallying towards the end but admitted they were outplayed in several aspects of the game.

Penrith’s backup halfback Brad Schneider played a pivotal role, setting up Turuva’s first try with a pinpoint kick.

Meanwhile, Dylan Edwards controlled the game with his kicking and finished with an impressive 258 run metres.

The Roosters struggled to break through Penrith’s staunch defense, although they found some success with tries from Joey

Manu and Sitili Tupouniua. However, Penrith’s right side continued to dominate, with Turuva capitalizing on opportunities created by his teammates.

Liam Martin suffered a shoulder injury early in the game but managed to return

in the second half. Additionally, Mavrik Geyer, son of Penrith legend Mark Geyer, made his NRL debut to the delight of the crowd, contributing 48 run metres.
