Dodgers have made a shocking decision to call up Dinelson Lamet.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made their second pitching transaction in as many days, as reports from various outlets

confirmed the addition of right-hander Dinelson Lamet to the active roster on Monday.

Lamet, aged 31, joined the Dodgers on a minor league deal during the offseason and was invited to spring training as a non-roster player. During his spring

outings, spanning 3 2/3 innings across four appearances, Lamet allowed only one earned run and recorded five strikeouts.

No corresponding move had been announced as of yet, with the Dodgers also needing to create space on their 40-man roster.

The previous day, the Dodgers brought up right-hander Nabil Crismatt from Triple-A Oklahoma City, who pitched two

scoreless innings to secure the win in the Dodgers’ comeback victory against the St. Louis Cardinals, with a scoreline of 5-4.

The Dodgers bullpen has faced a heavy workload early in the season. Left-hander Ryan Yarbrough recorded a

three-inning save on Friday, relievers were used for five innings on Saturday, and Crismatt had an extended outing on Sunday.

In the series opener against the San Francisco Giants on Monday, the Dodgers will witness left-hander James Paxton

making his debut for the team. Paxton’s appearances are expected to be limited this season following Tommy John surgery in 2021.

Lamet had a challenging 2021 season, making just 17 combined appearances with the Colorado Rockies and Boston

Red Sox, and posted an 11.71 ERA. However, in 2020, he finished fourth in the National League Cy Young Award

voting while with the San Diego Padres. Throughout his career spanning 118 appearances (60 starts), Lamet has a record of 17-24 with a 4.66 ERA.
