Wide receiver Tyler Johnson is back with the Rams on a one-year deal.

Before Puka Nacua’s breakout rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams in 2023, the team was uncertain about who

would fill the role of the No. 2 wide receiver behind Cooper Kupp. Tyler Johnson was considered as a potential option for this position.

Having demonstrated his ability as a reliable target for Tom Brady during his tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,

Johnson joined the Rams on a one-year contract after a challenging season with the Houston Texans in 2022. However,

with Nacua emerging as a standout performer, Johnson found himself relegated to the bottom of the depth chart.

Despite limited playing time, Johnson made a notable contribution to the team, particularly off the field. As a result, the

Rams have decided to retain him for another season, as announced by Johnson’s agency, Team IFA.

Before the NFL Draft, where the Los Angeles Rams have shown interest in potentially selecting a receiver, Tyler Johnson is currently ranked as the sixth wide receiver on the Rams’ depth chart.

The three starting spots are occupied by Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and free agent acquisition Demarcus Robinson, while Tutu Atwell, Ben Skowronek, and Johnson serve as the backups.

If the Rams opt to draft a wide receiver, Johnson’s chances of seeing playing time will likely remain slim. Nevertheless, the

fifth-year veteran remains committed to putting in the work and staying prepared for any opportunity that may arise.

In other news, Carson Wentz, the former second overall pick in the NFL Draft, served as the Rams’ backup quarterback

in the latter half of the 2023 season. However, with the Rams selecting Jimmy Garoppolo as their backup for the 2024 season, Wentz had to seek a new team.
