Leeds United are set lose a number of important players.

If Leeds United doesn’t secure promotion back to the Premier League, whether through the playoffs or automatic

promotion, they risk losing several key players during the summer transfer window.

Before joining Elland Road, Daniel Farke demonstrated his tactical acumen in the Championship, leading Norwich City to two promotions. Farke’s success at Leeds

this season proves once again that he is a master of the division, as his team remains in contention for the title late in the campaign.

After a shaky start to the season, Leeds United are now the clear favorites to win the championship title in May, despite

Ipswich Town currently leading the table. Additionally, Leeds United is enjoying a 15-game unbeaten streak in

the league, marking the club’s longest run without defeat since Howard Wilkinson’s title-winning side in 1991/92.

In the past, Farke has faced criticism, especially when his Norwich team struggled in the Premier League, with concerns about his inability to

strengthen the defense as the Canaries conceded goals in the top-flight. However, this season, Leeds boasts the

best defensive record in the Championship, despite having only the fourth-best attack.

The Whites’ attacking prowess has largely relied on their front four throughout the season. Particularly,

Crysencio Summerville is having an outstanding individual campaign, having scored 18 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions. Meanwhile, Daniel

James has contributed to 21 goals this season, marking a career-high achievement for the Welshman.

Due to the impressive goal-scoring performances of the wide players and

Joel Piroe, striker Georginio Rutter hasn’t needed to be as prolific this season and has mainly acted as the link man for the

attack. Consequently, the Frenchman has provided 15 assists in the Championship, with only Ipswich’s Leif Davis having more in the entire league.

However, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke speaking on Football Insider’s

Inside Track Podcast this week, Leeds United could face difficulties in retaining their key attacking talent if the club fails

to secure promotion back to the Premier League. O’Rourke stated, “If Leeds miss out on promotion, there will be interest in Rutter and other top players at the

club. The likes of Gnonto and Summerville will also be sought after elsewhere if that is the case.”

This has been a looming concern for Leeds United this season following their relegation last year. In the second season

post-relegation, parachute payments are significantly decreased, resulting in a reduced financial boost for the club.

However, Leeds United has effectively positioned themselves for a strong

chance of returning to the top flight by appointing a promotion specialist and providing him with the necessary

resources to thrive. Even if they fail to secure automatic promotion, they are undoubtedly favored to succeed in the playoffs.
