Ipswich is now in the running to sign a £4 million “weapon” who is in high demand this summer.

While the Championship promotion race remains unpredictable, Ipswich Town appears to be focusing on potential transfer deals off the field. Currently

leading the Championship table, Ipswich is poised for back-to-back promotions to the Premier League, with just two points separating them from third-placed

Leicester City, who have a game in hand. Despite the intensity of the final six games, Ipswich remains determined to pursue their Premier League aspirations.

Ahead of their upcoming East Anglian derby against Norwich City, Ipswich has

shifted its attention to the summer transfer window. According to reports from Mike McGrath and John Percy of

The Telegraph, Ipswich is considering a move for Seny Dieng from Middlesbrough, with interest also coming from Newcastle United and

Crystal Palace. Middlesbrough is said to be seeking a deal valued at double the £2 million fee they paid to acquire the goalkeeper from Queens Park Rangers last year.

After a standout season in the Championship, the Senegal international appears to be facing an important

decision this summer. For Ipswich, securing a key summer signing like Dieng, especially by outpacing competitors such as Newcastle, could

serve as a significant statement as they potentially enter the Premier League. The goalkeeper is certainly a player worth keeping an eye on in the upcoming transfer window.

Despite occasional doubts about his position as Middlesbrough’s top goalkeeper, Dieng has reclaimed his spot

under Michael Carrick, solidifying his role within the team once again. His resurgence has caught the attention of

Ipswich, presenting them with an opportunity to acquire an ideal competitor for Vaclav Hladky.

Negotiating the deal might pose a challenge, especially considering Carrick’s admiration for Dieng. The Middlesbrough manager expressed his

appreciation for the goalkeeper earlier in the season, stating that having a player like Seny enhances their attacking options. Carrick emphasized the

importance of having a goalkeeper who is comfortable playing with the ball, as it provides an additional player in possession, aligning with their preferred style of play.
