Very Bad News:Tears in Rabbitohs as Ilias Leg is damage and will be out for a Long time

Tears in Rabbitohs as Ilias Leg is damage and will be out for a Long timeĀ

South Sydney halfback Lachlan Ilias, recently dropped from the team, faces an extended path to return to the NRL after suffering a suspected broken leg during a reserve grade match.

Ilias had to leave the field in the final moments of the Rabbitohs’ NSW Cup game against the Warriors after a tackle by Freddy Lussick.

The Warriors hooker targeted Ilias’s right leg at Accor Stadium on Saturday while the Rabbitohs player attempted to kick the ball, resulting in a loud cry of pain from Ilias.

The tackle, which led to Lussick being sent off, triggered a brawl involving all players on the field.

In the earlier stages of the match, Ilias had a standout performance, scoring a try as Souths secured a 26-20 victory.

However, he had to leave the field with assistance from the club’s medical staff and was later observed using crutches while walking up the tunnel alongside NRL head coach Jason Demetriou.

Demetriou provided an update on Ilias’s condition, mentioning concerns about a possible tibia fracture, pending further scans.

“It was quite disheartening to witness,” Demetriou expressed. “I didn’t witness the tackle myself as I was in the change rooms at the time. Upon hearing about Lachie’s injury, I immediately came out to ensure his well-being.”

“From what I understand, the tackle was questionable, but I didn’t personally witness it. I anticipate that the match review committee will review the incident in the NSW Cup.”

Ilias’s absence compounds Souths’ injury woes, joining a growing list of sidelined players that includes Jai Arrow, Alex Johnston, Tyrone Munro, and Campbell Graham.
