Sad News:Panthers skipper Nathan Cleary will be out for 3 months due to ..

Penrith Panthers’ standout halfback and captain, Nathan Cleary, has encountered a setback in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury.

As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, Cleary remains a few weeks away from his comeback and faces a

tight deadline ahead of the Wests Tigers match in Bathurst next week. His recovery has not advanced as quickly as

the club had hoped, leading to a decision for him to return for the subsequent round against the North Queensland Cowboys.

The player, who has twice won the Clive Churchill Medal, suffered a hamstring injury during a match against the

Brisbane Broncos earlier this season, which was a rematch of the 2023 Grand Final. This incident marked his second

hamstring injury in recent history, following his absence from the final two State of Origin games last year due to a left hamstring strain.

The Herald’s reports follow the latest update from the star halfback, which occurred at the end of March. Cleary

provided insight into his injury during a Channel 9 interview, mentioning, “Yep… we play Manly this week and then we

have a bye.” He described the injury as a minor hammy tear, clarifying that it differs from the previous year’s injury and occurred in the other leg. Cleary

emphasized the importance of proper management and indicated that he could have played if it were a grand final. However, he highlighted the need to

adjust his workload, particularly regarding extras and kicking, and acknowledged the mental aspect of his recovery process.
