Sad News :Rabbitohs Coach Jason Demetrius have been attacked by …..

Amid increasing pressure to maintain his position as coach of beleaguered South Sydney, Jason Demetriou has made a sensational exit from a pre-game media briefing on Friday.

In a dramatic turn of events at the club’s training facility in Maroubra, the coach, known as ‘JD’, fielded only four questions before abruptly leaving after just 27 seconds.

Demetriou’s abbreviated press conference was briefer than Darius Boyd’s infamous 42-second session in 2009 during his time at the Dragons, and even shorter than Wayne Bennett’s 80-second response to questions following a loss to Penrith in 2020.

Multiple reports indicate that Demetriou is facing the possibility of being dismissed following Saturday’s match against Cronulla, with speculation suggesting that Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga could step in to replace him for the remainder of the season.

It is rumored that ‘Supercoach’ Wayne Bennett may then make a return to the club in 2025.

The Rabbitohs currently find themselves at the bottom of the NRL ladder with a 1-4 record, a stark contrast to their leading

position in the competition after 11 rounds last year, only to miss out on the finals.

During the captain’s run in Sydney’s east, a throng of journalists awaited

Demetriou’s comments, but were met with just 73 words before he retreated back into South Sydney’s offices.

Demetriou fielded four questions about his future and how he has handled the speculation. When asked about the challenges he’s facing, Demetriou

responded, “We’ve had a great week at training. The energy through the week has been outstanding.”

Regarding his ability to ignore the noise surrounding his tenure, Demetriou commented, “There are new blokes

coming in. Jye Gray [on debut], Ty Munro and Davvy Moale’s back. I’m excited by the energy they’ve brought.”

“I’m incredibly enthusiastic about the upcoming performance. I’m eagerly anticipating it. The energy levels are exceptionally high, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

In response to the fourth question about coaching for his job, Demetriou stated, “I

believe I’m coaching for an exceptional performance this week, and that’s precisely what we’re going to deliver.”

Despite South Sydney CEO Blake Solly’s recent assertion that the club fully backs Demetriou, signs indicate that his time may be limited.

Demetriou’s position has been further challenged by star fullback Latrell

Mitchell’s three-match suspension, adding to the controversy surrounding the start of the season.

Additionally, the coach’s decision to drop NSW State of Origin hooker Damien Cook

this week, following the earlier axing of halfback Lachlan Ilias, has added to the scrutiny surrounding his leadership.
