So sad :Brighton Fans want Roberto De Zerbi out as they no longer..

The popularity is waning for a manager whose winning streak has come to an end just as rumors swirl about his potential departure.

Roberto De Zerbi’s tenure as Brighton manager peaked on 24 September last year. Following a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, his team boasted five wins from six games, placing them third

in the Premier League. Notably, they had secured three consecutive victories, including wins over Newcastle United and Manchester United.

At that juncture, given his commendable performance last season following Graham Potter’s departure, it seemed

improbable that Brighton fans would grow weary of De Zerbi and his style of play. While there are no overt “De Zerbi

out” protests, there is a noticeable shift in sentiment. Despite Brighton’s current standing in the top half of the league,

some supporters are beginning to question De Zerbi’s approach, mindful of the club’s history and wary of becoming too entitled.

However, it’s safe to say that De Zerbi has depleted much of the goodwill he had accumulated. The disappointing defeat in the messy Europa League encounter in Rome only exacerbated matters, but there’s a perceived stubbornness in De Zerbi that fans feel has resulted in an inability to maintain clean sheets.

Despite starting the season with five wins in their first six league games,

Brighton have only managed to add six more victories since then, including matches against Brentford, Forest

(twice), Sheffield United, and Crystal Palace. The standout performance during the 4-2 home triumph over Tottenham showcased glimpses of last

season’s brilliance, characterized by dynamic, flowing football that captivated spectators.

The absence of Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma has been detrimental, but there’s

a prevailing sentiment that defensive uncertainty has hindered Brighton’s attacking prowess. While the defenders

excel in passing and initiating attacking moves, their defensive capabilities seem to have regressed, resulting in a slight blunting of Brighton’s offensive edge.

Additionally, several key players have not maintained the same level of performance seen in 2023.

Since that memorable victory on 28 December, Brighton has managed to score only 13 goals in 13 games, with five

of those goals coming in a 65-minute spell against Sheffield United. Brighton’s transformation into a team that is functional, frustrating, and somewhat

despondent is starkly different from the captivating style of play they were known for. This decline has coincided

with De Zerbi being linked to prestigious coaching positions across Europe, a situation that hasn’t sat well with the fans.
