Sad News:Leeds United goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson is involved in a terrible Car Accident
|According to Romerikes Blad, a professional footballer in his twenties collided with a roadblock barrier in Berger, Lillestrøm municipality, just after midnight on Wednesday. Leeds confirmed to the YEP that it was their player Klaesson involved in the incident. Terge Marstad, a police operations manager, stated that the driver appeared
uninjured but was taken to Akershus University Hospital for precautionary measures and questioned by the police.
The YEP also learned that Klaesson escaped without injuries in the crash, which involved his BMW M5 Cs.
Police attorney Henrik Skrimstad mentioned that the police are
investigating the traffic accident. Bjørn Bratteng, head of Lillestrøm police
station district’s investigation section, stated that the driver’s license was temporarily seized without consent. The
police do not suspect alcohol involvement. Verdens Gang reported that the driver is charged with violating
Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act, which carries a penalty of up to one year in prison.
Klaesson joined Leeds in July 2021, signing a four-year deal after a transfer fee of approximately £1.6m from
Norwegian side Valerenga. He has made three senior appearances for Leeds, two this season due to Illan Meslier’s
suspension and Karl Darlow’s injury. Last season, he replaced the injured Meslier in a Premier League game against Wolves. With Darlow’s return,
Klaesson has been relegated to the role of third-choice goalkeeper outside the matchday squad in recent weeks.
Leeds are currently gearing up for their upcoming match against Middlesbrough
tonight as the Championship promotion battle reaches its climax. According to the YEP, Klaesson is set to
return to the country this week, and it’s anticipated that manager Daniel Farke will provide an update on the
goalkeeper’s availability for the Riverside clash during his pre-game press conference on Friday.
