Zack Wheeler pitched an impressive no-hitter for 7 1/3 innings, while Brandon Marsh’s home run and two RBIs helped propel the Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-5 victory over the struggling Chicago White Sox. Wheeler, with a record of 1-3, allowed just one hit, struck out eight batters, walked two, and hit one batter.

 

 

In the ninth inning, Jose Alvarado secured the final out with the bases loaded, earning his fourth save of the season. Nick Castellanos contributed

three hits and two RBIs, Trea Turner added two hits and two RBIs, and Bryce Harper chipped in with two hits and an

RBI. Johan Rojas also stood out with three hits as the Phillies extended their winning streak to five games.

 

For the White Sox, Korey Lee drove in two runs with a double and a single, while Dominic Fletcher added an RBI double. Despite scoring five runs in the

ninth inning, including contributions from Eloy Jimenez with two hits and an RBI, the White Sox couldn’t overcome the Phillies’ lead.

 

Starting pitcher Michael Soroka (0-3) endured a tough outing, surrendering six hits, three walks, and five runs while striking out two batters in 4 2/3 innings.

With the loss, the White Sox dropped to a 3-17 record, marking their worst 20-game start in franchise history.

 

In a pivotal moment during the game, Trea Turner’s two-run double in the

bottom of the seventh inning extended the Phillies’ lead to 9-0, securing their victory.

Wheeler’s bid for a no-hitter came to an end in the eighth inning when Lee singled to right field with one out. Later

in the inning, Sheets popped out to Bohm at third base in foul ground, ending a scoring opportunity with the bases

loaded. The Phillies took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Marsh hit a two-run home run to right-center field. Castellanos then tripled to right,

breaking a 0-for-16 slump, and scored on Rojas’s RBI single to left, extending the lead to 3-0.

 

Throughout the game, Wheeler allowed only two base runners in the first five

innings – a walk to Lopez in the first and DeJong reaching base after being hit by a pitch in the fifth.

 

In the fifth inning, the Phillies loaded the bases with two outs, and Castellanos delivered a two-run single to center off Banks, increasing the lead to 5-0. In the

sixth, Shewmake flied out to right, Lopez struck out swinging, and Jimenez also struck out swinging. The Phillies added

two more runs in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single by Harper and a sacrifice fly by Realmuto, making it a 7-0 lead.
