Sad News:am not playing again,Lions’ Jared Goff has terminated his contract

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff made waves when he suggested in a recent podcast appearance that certain members of the Detroit media seem to “take pleasure in negativity” when covering the team. However, Goff clarified during a conversation with ESPN’s Eric Woodyard on Tuesday that he has encountered “a lot of positivity” since officially joining the Lions in March 2021.

Addressing his earlier remarks, Goff explained that his comments may have

been misconstrued and were in response to a specific question posed during a press conference. He emphasized that he

was not implying there is no positive news coverage but rather expressing his observation that some individuals may

focus more on negative news. Goff added that this phenomenon is not unique to Detroit and may occur elsewhere as well.

Goff highlighted during the podcast and in his conversation with Woodyard a specific instance when he was asked

before the NFC Championship Game about the San Francisco 49ers’ array of star players. He noted that earlier in

January, he played a role in the Lions securing their first playoff victory since January 1992.

“I was referring to our local situation, but I think it’s applicable worldwide,” Goff explained to Woodyard. “Not to

make it too broad, but it wasn’t just about Detroit; it’s the media landscape, particularly in sports and the NFL, where

sensationalism often prevails. Maybe I should have been more specific about that.”

One of the main uncertainties surrounding the Lions heading into the

upcoming draft is Goff’s contract situation, as he enters the final year of

his current deal. Goff has expressed his desire to remain with Detroit beyond the 2024 season.

“I’m just focused on the essentials—improving, helping our team win games,

advancing further than last year, and aiming to be the last team standing,” Goff commented on steering clear of

distractions related to a potential contract extension. “That’s my sole focus.”

Goff also acknowledged on Tuesday that the Lions face significant work ahead,

given the elevated expectations following a successful season. As of Tuesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had

Detroit tied for fourth among the betting favorites, with odds of +1200, to win Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.
