Sad News: Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou have submitt his resignation letter. …

South Sydney coach Jason Demetriou admits uncertainty regarding whether club officials will grant him the time he believes necessary to improve his team’s performance. A board meeting scheduled for next week will address his future with the club.

Demetriou is aware of the mounting pressure following a disastrous performance in Melbourne on Thursday night. The 54-20 defeat to the Storm extends South Sydney’s 19-year winless

streak in Victoria. With his team allowing their highest score of the year, conceding 10 tries, Souths find themselves at the bottom of the NRL

ladder with just one win. They had entered round eight aiming to demonstrate signs of improvement.

After the bye week, Demetriou had devised a five-week plan to rejuvenate his team, although it seems uncertain if he will have the full duration to execute it.

Expressing his dedication to coaching the club and team, Demetriou emphasized his commitment to giving his best effort

regardless of the circumstances. Despite the heavy defeat, he remained steadfast in his belief that their season was still salvageable.

Following the match, Demetriou stressed the importance of action over words, urging his players to deliver on the field

and achieve the desired results. He acknowledged the need for improved performances, particularly during

critical moments in games, and emphasized the players’ responsibility to execute their skills effectively.

Looking ahead, the next four weeks include challenging matches against strong opponents like the Panthers, as

well as opportunities for victories against teams lower in the standings such as the Dragons, Cowboys, and Eels.

Despite the setback in Melbourne, Demetriou noted the positive impact of former assistant David Furner’s return to

the coaching staff, particularly in his role as the defense coach. Furner’s presence has already led to improvements in

identifying areas for enhancement, despite the significant scoreline against Melbourne.
