News Now:Chris sale reveals the secret in Braves Triumph over his old Team

In Atlanta, Marcell Ozuna continued his impressive form by smashing two more home runs, while Chris Sale delivered six shutout innings against his former club, propelling the Atlanta Braves to a 5-0 triumph over the Boston Red Sox and completing a sweep of their two-game interleague series on Wednesday night.

Ozuna launched a three-run homer in the opening inning and followed it up with a solo blast in the third inning off Nick Pivetta, who struggled in his first start since returning from the injured list.

The power hitter affectionately dubbed “Big Bear” surged past Shohei Ohtani to claim the MLB lead with his 11th and 12th home runs, solidifying his status as the league leader with 38 RBIs. As he launched one to the warning track in his final at-bat, chants of “MVP! MVP!” reverberated from the crowd at Truist Park.

Ozuna, however, brushed off the admiration, a stark contrast from a year prior when he grappled with a slump, and his tenure in Atlanta seemed uncertain. “Even in moments of greatness, it’s crucial to maintain the same level,” he remarked. “Complacency is not an option.”

Sale (5-1), who pitched for the Red Sox from 2018 to 2023 before joining Atlanta, faced his former team in an emotional matchup but quickly found his rhythm. “I have immense respect and love for those guys,” Sale expressed. “But ultimately, our goal is victory.”

The left-hander displayed a resurgence reminiscent of his dominant past, tallying 10 strikeouts for the 82nd double-digit strikeout game of his career. Left fielder Jarred Kelenic’s remarkable leap to snag a potential home run by Garrett Cooper further bolstered Sale’s stellar performance.

“I entered the offseason with a clear mission,” Sale asserted. “I dedicated myself to the task, knowing it had to be this year.”

Reflecting on comebacks, Ozuna’s transformation is remarkable. A year ago, he struggled with a batting average of .146 and faced speculation about his

future with the Braves. However, he rebounded emphatically, tallying 40 home runs and 100 RBIs, and continues to excel this season.

Orlando Arcia also contributed to the Braves’ offensive display with a home run. Dylan Lee and Ray Kerr followed Sale on the mound to secure the seven-hit shutout.

Pivetta (1-2) returned to action for the first time since April 3 after recovering from a right elbow strain.

He initially seemed to breeze through the first inning without any issues until Austin Riley hit into what was initially

called an inning-ending double play. However, the call was overturned upon review, revealing that Riley reached the bag just ahead of the relay throw.

Following Matt Olson’s infield hit, Marcell Ozuna stepped up and smashed a 372-foot home run that barely cleared the right-field wall. Just three pitches

later, Orlando Arcia added another homer to right field, making it back-to-back homers for the Braves.

Instead of escaping the inning unharmed, Pivetta found himself trailing 4-0—a rare stumble for a Boston rotation

that has performed exceptionally well this season. He managed to last four innings, conceding seven hits and all five of Atlanta’s runs.

Braves manager Brian Snitker highlighted the importance of Riley’s hustle, stating, “Austin beating that ball

out is a huge play. That gives us four runs, which essentially was the difference in the game.”
